Wacom and Photography

Traditional photography is a three-step process: taking the photograph, developing the film, and printing the photograph in the darkroom. Digital photography eliminates the need for film, but as all professional photographers know, the need to adjust, edit and manipulate photographs in a darkroom still exists.

Powerful software such as Adobe Photoshop has replaced the traditional darkroom and is used by photographers worldwide to perfect the images they photograph. Wacom pen tablets such as the professional level Intuos3 and interactive pen displays such as the Cintiq 21UX that allow direct on-screen manipulation complete the digital darkroom. Using photo manipulation software with these pressure sensitive tools allow you to dodge and burn detailed areas with a fine touch otherwise not possible.

Retouching techniques such as enhancing skin tone and removing specific unwanted objects becomes faster with the pen's pressure sensitivity. Wacom pens also give you a level a control and accuracy not possible with the traditional PC mouse. Greater control and accuracy means photo manipulation techniques such as masking, cropping, and cutting out objects require much less time. The tablet's ExpressKeys and Touch Strips (on the Intuos3 and Cintiq 21UX) also speeds up workflow by allowing programmable shortcut functions, zooming in and out of images, and fast adjustment of brush sizes.

Wacom's pen tablet technology enhances every step of the digital imaging process to help you create the perfect photograph.
